Taking a tour as a solo traveller over 60 is a fantastic experience. To fully enjoy your trip make sure you check out our few handy top tips before you travel.
1) Is the trip right for you?
To really get the most out of your group tour make sure you research your trip beforehand. Tucan Travel tours are fast-paced and adventurous where you will need to be able to carry your own bags and walk with ease. In some cases we may ask you to fill out a tour suitability form – we want you to enjoy your adventure and ensure you book the trip that’s right for you.
2) Travel insurance and visas
Make sure you check before you travel your necessary visa arrangements. You can use our Visa Guide page, or speak to a local embassy for more details. Similarly, travel insurance is compulsory on all of our group tours. You will need proof of it when you meet your Tour Leader on day one of the tour.
3) Practice with the locals
It’s always good knowing a few words of the local language when you take a singles vacation. When you visit local restaurants or stay at homestays such as the ones on our Cuba tours, practice a few phrases with the locals around – they will appreciate it and you will surpise yourself with how much you know!
4) Pack light
On our group tours you will be required to carry your own bag so we really recommend packing light and leaving the unnecessary items at home! We recommend an easy to carry backpack as in some places we stay there are no lifts.
5) Embrace the solo travel
It can be daunting travelling as a solo traveller at any age. Our group tours attract like-minded people and as a number of them are solo passengers themselves it is a great way to make new friends from all over the world. The Tour Leader will be on hand to break the ice at the pre-departure meeting and for any questions, if you are a nervous traveller.
